Bitmap Initials

This assignment, though straightforward, presented several valuable challenges. Crafting my initials (LTZ) without stair-stepping the grid required considerable problem-solving and design configuration. I recognized that starting with the Z was essential to creating a cohesive system, due to its diagonal stem. I opted to base my design on how my family writes the Z, incorporating a central stroke to create the illusion of a diagonal. After establishing this foundation, I added serifs to enhance the letterform. Once the Z was complete, designing the L and T followed naturally. My final challenge was achieving cohesive spacing between the letters. To ensure a harmonious appearance, I positioned the L and T closer together, allowing the negative space to create the perception that all letters were equidistant.
